Five matters needing attention in the performance test of ABS plastics
it is understood that the five properties of plastic ABS need to be comprehensively considered in the performance test, namely: general performance, mechanical performance, thermal performance, electrical performance and environmental performance
general performance: from the appearance of ABS plastic raw material, it is mainly an opaque Ivory granular material. The characteristics of non-toxic, tasteless and low water absorption can make its products into various colors, and have a high gloss of more than 90%. ABS has good adhesion with other materials and is easy to be printed, coated and plated on the surface. The oxygen index of ABS plastic is 18.2. It is a flammable polymer. Its flame is yellow and has black smoke. It is scorched but will not drip, and it will emit a special cinnamon flavor when burning. ABS is a kind of resin product with very good comprehensive performance. It has good impact strength and surface hardness in a relatively wide temperature range. Its thermal deformation temperature is much higher than that of PA and PVC, and its dimensional stability is also relatively good
mechanical properties: ABS has excellent mechanical properties, and its impact strength is very good. It can be applied to various cold scenes at low temperatures. Even if ABS products are damaged by external forces, it also promotes the formation of a uniform and dense cross-linking network in gel, which can only be tensile failure rather than impact failure. ABS has better wear resistance than other plastics. It has excellent dimensional stability and good oil resistance. It can be used for bearings under medium load and speed. The parting surface, gate condition and size of ABS creep mold directly affect the material flow direction, density dispersion, pressure maintaining and feeding effect and molding timeliness, which are larger than PSF and PC, but smaller than PA and POM. The bending strength and compressive strength of ABS are poor among plastics. The mechanical properties of ABS are greatly affected by temperature
thermal properties: ABS plastic is an amorphous polymer with no obvious melting point; The melt viscosity is high, the fluidity is poor, the weather resistance is poor, and ultraviolet light can make the color change; The thermal deformation temperature is 70-107 ℃ (about 85), and the product can be increased by about 10 ℃ after annealing. It is sensitive to temperature and shear rate; ABS can still show certain toughness at -40 ℃ and can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40 ℃ to 85 ℃
electrical performance: ABS has excellent electrical insulation performance and will hardly be affected by temperature, humidity and frequency. The main overflow valve and electromagnetic directional valve are products of well-known enterprises on the right track. Some enterprises are studying the "two-step" production process and use it in most environments
environmental performance: ABS plastic will not be affected by water, inorganic salts, alkali alcohols, hydrocarbon solvents and a variety of acids, but it can be dissolved in ketones, aldehydes and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It will gradually produce stress and crack when corroded by glacial acetic acid, vegetable oil and so on
